When I think that I still haven't managed to put you up to date with all the news that I saw during my Parisian week, I feel a little ashamed. I will therefore hasten to repair this error by presenting one of the very latest vacuum cleaners from Dyson, the Digital Slim, a stick vacuum cleaner that claims to be as powerful as a conventional vacuum cleaner.
As I said, during this Parisian week, I finally had the opportunity to meet people with whom I have had professional relationships for several months or even years for some. At the beginning of September, it was a bit of madness on the side of new household appliances and it allowed me in a single trip of several days to make an almost complete tour. Among other things, there was the Dyson evening on September 26, a rather digital-oriented evening since most of the guests came from the blogosphere or at least from the digital world. For this evening, the big star was obviously the new news: 748163 "Dyson DC52", a vacuum cleaner that no longer clogs up with a filter which means less maintenance. Having already communicated on it, I admit to having listened with a slightly distracted ear to the charming young engineer who praised the merits of this new technology. Notice that sometimes my brain stops at "And you will have less work ...", which is more than enough as an argument. Fortunately I did not completely forget my work as a journalist before heading to the bar and I had time to observe another vacuum cleaner, the Dyson DC62, the new generation of stick vacuums at Dyson. Anyone who has ever had a stick vacuum could tell you the same thing: "It's great for ease of use and grip, but it's still a booster." In my case, that's what I would tell you because my vacuum cleaner is close at hand in the kitchen, I use it every day but it cannot replace my canister vacuum cleaner, especially when we have had the brilliant idea like me of putting sisal in my son's room. Indeed I tell my life but it is the only way to keep people when we talk about vacuum cleaner. Dyson announces that this stick vacuum cleaner sucks as much as a standard vacuum cleaner. This kind of announcement makes you want to howl with joy by waving your hands but we contain ourselves. This new efficiency would be due to a new kind of engine, the Dyson V6 digital engine. I make a confession: I tried to understand the technology by going to the page dedicated to the digital engine, I got absolutely nothing except that it is better than before because we have passed from V2 to V6. Dyson technology is also based on the cyclonic force created thanks to the cones that can be seen on all these vacuum cleaners, the DC62 has 15 cones that Dyson calls cyclones while the previous model of broom vacuum cleaner only had 6. These two technologies combined would therefore be able to make the new Dyson DC62 a stick vacuum cleaner as powerful as a canister vacuum cleaner.
The challenge for the engineers was obviously to keep the qualities of any stick vacuum cleaner, that is to say the ease and comfort of use. The bet seems successful since the Dyson DC62 keeps a wasp size with a light weight of only 2 kg (300 grams less than on the DC45). On the autonomy side, the duration remains at 20 minutes at normal power and 6 minutes at maximum power. In addition to that, Dyson has equipped this vacuum cleaner with a wider brush to allow it to compete with canister vacuums. For accessories, it is accompanied by a loose brush, a small nozzle and a long nozzle. 20 minutes being the maximum time during which I can vacuum without too much suffering, this autonomy does not bother me but it could slow down some especially if it is used as a main vacuum cleaner. Opponents will also point the finger at the noise of Dyson vacuum cleaners, but it has become so well known now that those who like silence do not turn to the Anglo-Saxon brand, just like those who do not understand that we can put such a sum in a vacuum cleaner. The Dyson DC 62 is indeed announced at a price of 479 € which is not nothing indeed, even if the price goes a little better if we consider that it does not need to be seconded by a canister vacuum cleaner. Dyson, DC 62 Animalpro, from € 479, available in October 2013
